Ruth Baer, DO
Assistant Professor
Dr. Ruth M. Baer is a former graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her first residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Midwestern University in Illinois followed by an Orthopedic Upper Extremity Fellowship at the University of Chicago. After practicing for several years, she returned to Michigan State University and completed a second residency in General Psychiatry, with a special interest in sports. In addition to her role as Medical Director of Clinical Operations, Dr. Baer provides direct clinical supervision to fellows, residents and medical students in training.
Dr. Baer is the Section Director of Sports Psychiatry and serves as a clinical consultant to the Michigan State University Division of Sports Medicine - Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. In addition, she provides psychiatric consultative services to University Athletic Departments across the various NCAA conferences and also works with professional teams. Her special interests include return to play after injury and performance enhancement.
