2026 Parent Group

Looking for support with some of the everyday challenges of parenting?

The MSU Department of Psychiatry is offering a FREE Virtual Parent Group for parents and caregivers of children ages 5–12.

This research-based group provides a supportive space to connect with other parents while learning practical strategies for:

• Managing challenging behaviors at home and school
• Handling tantrums and defiance
• Building positive behaviors and social skills
• Using effective praise and encouragement
• Coping with parenting stress and building confidence 

Sessions are held online via HIPAA-compliant Zoom from 4:00–5:00 PM, beginning October 1, 2026, with seven sessions running through December 3. The group is facilitated by Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows Jennifer Kim, DO, and Victoria Peruski, DO, along with Emily Sportsman, PhD, LP, NCSP. Parent Group 2026 Flyer
