Dr. Miko Rose recently completed her psychiatry residency training at Michigan State University in the spring of 2015. She is now working as an assistant professor, providing psychiatric services at health clinics for the underserved of Greater Lansing. Dr. Rose is Program Director of "The Joy Initiative" under which she is creating teaching modules on happiness and emotional resilience for medical trainees. During her residency training, she was awarded the SAMHSA American Psychiatric Association (APA) Minority Leadership Fellowship, from which she built the foundation to develop emotional resilience, joy and mindfulness training for minority young adult populations. She has been presenting this work at regional and national conferences since 2013. Dr. Rose has served as council member for the American Psychiatric Association Committee for Geriatric Psychiatry and the Council on Communications. She is now serving as an NBOME appointed faculty, contributing national board examination test items for medical students studying psychiatry.
